English as a Second Language
English as Second Language learners are taught with
strategies that include:

Guessing word meanings from context clues

Becoming aware of the reading process

Fostering a risk-taking environment
I also help English as Second Language students to learn by using explicit
teaching of text features, like the difference between a fairy tale and a
newspaper article.
Additional strategies include:

Pre-reading techniques that are helpful to generate the appropriate schemata
(Example: picture walk)

While reading, I use of context clues for vocabulary, predicting events,
learning to use dictionary.
